Alex Felix, Gilroy wrestling

The 132-pound freshman wrestler took first and was named Outstanding Wrestler at the California Coast Classic Dec. 30. He beat Anthony Wesley 6-2 in the finals and helped Gilroy take the team championship.
Brittany Valdez, Gavilan basketball

Valdez had 10 rebounds, five steals and four points in the Rams’ 64-43 win over Lassen Monday at home. She also had six assists for Gavilan.
