Men’s BB

Gilroy – Bad News improved to 2-0 atop the Men’s BB League standings Friday by outlasting Interstate Fence-Dee’z Nutz 10-6 at Christmas Hill Park.

Henry Calderon and Ruben Lujan III each laced a two-run single to help Bad News remain one-half game ahead of both Czar Construction and DLM Electric.

Ricky Salinas scored three runs and Daniel Salinas and Xavier Puente each collected a double and single for Bad News. Will Lawrence keyed a five-run third frame for Interstate-Dee’z with a two-run triple.

Bobby Reggiani went 4-for-4 and Joel Vaca went 3-for-3 to propel Czar Construction past Kline’s Plumbing 12-8.

Danny Rodriguez scored three runs and John Jimenez drove in three runs for Czar Construction. Josh Garcia and Jeff Heck each provided three hits for Kline’s Plumbing.

DLM Electric earned a forfeit win over Craig Avila Bail Bonds.

Men’s D

Team Hair FX needed to erase an eight-run deficit to defeat the Bomb Squad 16-14 and remain unbeaten in the Men’s D League softball standings Friday at Las Animas Park.

George Espinoza and Mike Lopez each stroked a two-run double as Bomb Squad scored eight runs in the fifth for a 13-5 lead. Team Hair FX (3-0) responded with seven runs in the fifth, then four in the sixth that was capped by a two-run home run from Joel Torres.

Jim Blain, Mike Kachel, Gilbert Ramirez and Mark Rodriguez each went 3-for-3 for Team Hair FX. Dave Espinoza homered in a 4-for-4 effort for the Bomb Squad.

Rosso’s Rebels is 1-1 after an 11-3 victory over Dr. Tile.

Alex Pena muscled a home run, triple and double for Rosso’s Rebels. Zeke Lopez hit a single and double, scoring twice for the Rebels. Marco Delgado and Dave Robinson each went 2-for-2 for Dr. Tile.

South Valley Plumbing-Elam Trucking moved to 2-1 by defeating Ellite Barbers 12-4.

Rich Furtado cracked an RBI-double in the first inning and two-run homer in the third for the Plumbers-Truckers. Randy Evanger added a grand slam in the fourth for the winners. Josh Newton collected a homer, double and single. Andrew Rauss went 2-for-3 and Manuel Gonzalez homered for Ellite Barbers.

Men’s E

EvMar moved to 3-0 in Men’s E League adult softball action Thursday with a 16-10 decision over the South Valley Community Church Thumpers #2 at Christmas Hill Park.

The Thumpers struck for four runs in the top of the first inning, sparked by consecutive singles from Jim Hansen, Chacho Mariscal and Jake O’Sullivan. EvMar countered with seven runs in the first, led by a two-run double by Todd Leal.

Kurt Gitmed stroked two home runs for EvMar, while Jason Mesa went 3-for-4 and scored three runs. Frank Palacios scored three Thumper runs.

The Titans joined EvMar atop the standings at 3-0 by defeating Edward’s Cleaning & Hauling-Joe Zertuche Real Estate 18-8.

Mike Vanni and Ryan Romero each registered four hits for the Titans. Craig Deal, Greg Renn and Mike Vanni each scored three runs. Jose Bueno and Rudy Gonzales each drilled three hits and Ralph Zertuche singled and doubled for Edward-Zertuche.

John Ehrat singled and scored on a Jesse Rawlings triple in the bottom of the seventh inning to earn Campbell’s Towing an 8-7 win over Claddagh Brew Crew. Ehrat went 4-for-4 and Kory Seely ripped a two-run home run for 2-1 Campbell’s. Parker Hathaway and Mike Keith each went 3-for-4 for the 2-1 Brew Crew.

Gil Cano and Larry Reimal each singled and scored in the bottom of the seventh inning as Dutchman’s Pizza defeated Heinzen Manufacturing 7-6. Taylor Miceli homered for Dutchman’s. Manny Freitas homered and Mark Logan stroked a two-run single for Heinzen Manufacturing.

Men’s EE

VFW Bingo exploded for nine runs in the top of the seventh inning to pull out a 14-12 Men’s EE League win over the South Valley Community Church Thumpers #1 Thursday at Gavilan Sports Park.

Ted Sanchez hit a run-scoring single as VFW Bingo broke a 10-10 tie. Gabe Sandoval went 4-for-4 with a two-run homer for the winners. John Holder went 5-for-5 and Mario Flores scored four runs for the Thumpers.

Greg Fernald and Greg Sosebee each went 2-for-3 and scored twice to pace St. Mary Men’s Club to an 8-4 win over the Good Ole Boys. John Haygood lined two singles and Chad Dvorak scored twice for the Good Ole Boys.

Louie Vasquez Jr. went 4-for-4 and scored three runs as 3-0 S&S Construction outlasted 2NQ 18-4. Kevin Giordanengo homered for 2-1 2NQ.
