WASHINGTON – Democrats appeared to retain control of the Senate on Tuesday while Republicans will continue to rule the House of Representatives, after congressional elections that featured several high-profile races.

In one Florida county, voters were wrongly told they could vote the day after the election. In storm-wracked New Jersey, emergency plans to allow email voting proved too popular for election officials to handle. In Pennsylvania and Ohio, a variety of problems raised questions about the integrity of the vote.

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama and Republican Mitt Romney dueled to the end Tuesday as voters battered by years of economic pain and uncertainty decided whether to give Obama four more years or to send him home as the first president in 20 years to be denied a second term.

CINCINNATI - Twelve years after voting problems delayed the 2000 presidential election results, Ohio – possibly the most pivotal state on the political map – sits at the center of a dispute that once again could put the outcome in limbo for weeks.

WASHINGTON – After billions of dollars, hours of debates and frantic last-minute pitches from the candidates, it's up to the voters Tuesday to decide whether to give President Barack Obama a second term or change course with Republican Mitt Romney.

While absentee ballots flood into the county elections official’s office, voters who missed the mail-in deadline have until 8 p.m. Tuesday to turn in their ballots at designated dropoff sites in town, or at any local polling place on Election Day.

On a Friday afternoon before the Nov. 6 election, Gilroyans lingered at a local watering hole, discouraged about the conditions of Gilroy schools and economy, but hopeful that mayoral candidate Don Gage is the answer to Gilroy’s future. 

The Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters is encouraging voters to drop off their ballots this weekend so they can get to counting the votes in time for Tuesday night.
