It took awhile, but better late than never for a Gilroy eyesore. The junk trap that seems to inhabit a patch of land on Alexander Street without fail (see Eyesores of the Week, Nov. 22 and Jan. 24) is cleared.
It's the eyesore that just won't die. The train yard near Old Gilroy and 10th Street continues to be a blight to the area with piles of garbage rising into the foreground of a nice view of the Eagle Ridge development (northwest of the eyesore).
It's on the market, though it appears to be more of a fixer-upper than move-in ready. The 3.36 acre property - located along Royal Way and Filbro Drive near Princevalle Street - is populated by weeds overgrowing onto the sidewalk and dilapidated storage units.
Eleven trash cans block the sidewalk in front of the home at 7300 Orchard Drive not too far from Sixth Street. Among stacked chairs on the front lawn, a few out-of-commission cars and plastic bins of junk - is a yard which neighbors would like to see cleaned up.
