Antolin Garcia Torres, the Morgan Hill man accused of kidnapping and murdering Sierra LaMar, again waived his right to appear in court Tuesday.

The plea hearing for the suspect in the kidnapping and murder of 15-year-old Sierra LaMar is scheduled for today at 2 p.m. in the San Jose Hall of Justice.

Antolin Garcia Torres, the Morgan Hill man accused of murdering missing cheerleader Sierra LaMar, did not appear in court Wendesday afternoon after the public defender’s office was granted a continuance of the plea hearing until Sept. 26.

Antolin Garcia Torres’ appearance in court was waived for his hearing in San Jose Tuesday, and the judge scheduled an Aug. 29 court date to discuss the murder suspect’s request for unspecified records from Verizon that could be related to the disappearance of Morgan Hill teen Sierra LaMar. 

Santa Clara County sheriff’s deputies Monday finished up the search of Uvas reservoir for the remains of missing teen Sierra LaMar or any sign of where she might be, authorities said. 

The rescheduled arraignment hearing for the Morgan Hill man accused of kidnapping and murdering Sierra LaMar was postponed again Thursday.

Murder charges for Antolin Garcia Torres - the 21-year-old suspect accused of kidnapping and killing 15-year-old Sierra LaMar - ride the wake of a harried criminal past that includes arrests for assault, obstructing officers and having sex with a minor.

After a suspect was arrested in connection with the disappearance of 15-year-old Sierra LaMar, the community’s reaction has ranged from shock to relief to sorrow. 

Antolin Garcia Torres, 21 of Morgan Hill, was charged Thursday with murdering Sierra LaMar, 15, who has been missing since March 16.
