Goodness, gracious, great cloves of garlic: Event organizers behind Gilroy's internationally-renown foodie extravaganza have sweetened (or spiced?) the 1st, 2nd and 3rd-place prizes for the event's signature competition.
The $18,000 cash theft from the Garlic Festival is in fact being investigated by police, said Gilroy Police Chief Denise Turner despite the Gilroy Police Department indicating last week that they were not.
From country, to blues, to jazz and swing, entertainment at the Garlic Festival was in abundance this year, as several talented acts performed at the four stages, set up throughout Christmas Hill Park, all weekend long.
They are in the trenches. Amid the garlic aroma, nearly 4,000 volunteers work to crank out every pepper steak sandwich to perfection, take every photo for visitors in front of the giant garlic bulb and answer questions on anything and everything Garlic Festival. The volunteers made it happen again this year. We tip our hat to you.
