Before he became a Gavilan Community College trustee, Rotary Club member, church choir singer, Leadership Morgan Hill graduate, business owner, avid fisherman and horseback rider, and a long list of other titles reflecting what his friends classify as unwavering ambition and devotion to those around him far and wide, Mike Davenport was an officer in the U.S. Navy.

The first regular Board of Education meeting at Gavilan College since the death of Mike Davenport was weighted with emotion Tuesday night, when several trustees took a moment to remember their lost colleague before discussing how to fill his shoes.

The family of Mike Davenport, a Gavilan College board of trustee who died last week at the age of 47, have announced his funeral services. 

Morgan Hill resident and Gavilan College trustee Mike Davenport, who suffered a severe head injury when he fell off the roof of his motor home nearly two weeks ago, died as a result of his injuries at San Jose Regional Medical Center today.
