BIRTHDAY: Vic Lase: Vic Lase, a longtime Gilroy resident, celebrated his 90th birthday surrounded by more than 100 friends and family members at Gilroy’s City Hall Restaurant on April 6. Everyone danced to the music of the 10th Avenue String Band, and Vic reminisced with the crowd about days gone by. After a money dance, which included dancing with his youngest grandson, everyone sang “Happy Birthday” to the oldest member of he Lase family.

BIRTHDAY: Anna Pawlak: Anna Pawlak celebrated her 102nd birthday April 12, having been born the day the Titanic set sail.

ANNIVERSARY

HONORS: Nathan Davies: Nathan Davies of Hollister has completed the 27-week cadet training course at the California Highway Patrol Academy. He is assigned to duty at the CHP’s Hollister-Gilroy area office.

ENGAGEMENT: Keim/Downs: Lisa Keim and Jeff Downs are engaged to be married.

HONORS: Katelynn Moeller: Air Force Airman Katelynn Moeller graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

BIRTH: Avett James Rollins: Avett James Rollins was born Nov. 21, 2013 at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose to Jennifer Stanco Rollins and Jim Rollins. He weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces.

BIRTHDAY: Rosie Lepetich turns 100: Rosie (Wolfe) Lepetich, born Jan. 31, 1914 in Point Arena, recently celebrated her 100th birthday.

HONORS: Ashley Mammen: Ashley Mammen, of Morgan Hill, was named to the fall 2013 dean's list at Creighton University. Full-time students who rank in the top 10 percent of their class for the semester and earn a 3.5 grade-point average or better on a 4.0 scale are eligible for the Dean's List.

HONORS: Juan Arteaga: Juan Arteaga, of Gilroy, recently graduated from the Sacramento Campus of Universal Technical Institute (UTI), the leading provider of post-secondary education for students seeking careers as professional automotive, diesel, collision repair, motorcycle and marine technicians.
