The Gilroy field hockey team played two completely different halves against Leland. The Mustangs scored four goals in the second half Friday, breaking the 1-1 tie from halftime and powering them to a 5-1 win at Leland.  Katrina 'KC' Carter led the way with a hat trick in the game. Tayler Sillaci and Morgan Rogers each added a goal of their own.  The win was great for us, especially have a very slow and sluggish warm-up which translated into a slow start," Gilroy coach Adam Gemar said. "But the flood gates opened and we were able to pull off the victory.  We are very excited for the playoffs and finishing third overall."   The win gives Gilroy a 12-3-2 overall record on the season and a 9-3-2 record in the Mt. Hamilton A-League — which should give it the No. 3 seed in the Central Coast Section playoffs.  The final seedings will be determined today at a coach's meeting, but if the Mustangs receive the No. 3 seed they will have a first-round bye and will play in the quarterfinal game Saturday.  Check back here for updates on the Mustangs' playoff seeding as information becomes available.  VOLLEYBALL Gilroy drops season finale It was a hard fought battle for the Gilroy volleyball team Thursday, but it wasn't the ending it wanted.  The Mustangs lost their season finale 3-1 at North Monterey County by a score of 26-24, 18-25, 12-25, 21-25.  Senior Leilani Mah led the offense with 15 kills and added five blocks in the game.
