A suspect broke into boxing champion Robert Guerrero’s home on Dowdy Street two weeks ago, stealing a shotgun and professional boxing equipment.
A prime suspect has been named, and is a known business associate to Guerrero, according to the Gilroy Police Department.
Not including the 12-gauge shotgun and two barrels, the suspect stole $1,150 worth of belongings, including two pairs of Guerrero’s boxing gloves, various jerseys and two pairs of women’s designer shoes.
The Dowdy Street home was broken into sometime between Aug. 13 and Aug. 19, Gallacinao said.
Police Sgt. Gallacinao would not reveal the name of the suspect, as the incident is still being investigated.Â
Guerrero (30-1-1, 18 KOs), who has won world championships in four different weight divisions, made his debut at 147 pounds on July 28 and defeated Selcuk Aydin in a unanimous decision to claim the WBC Interim Welterweight crown – his sixth title – at HP Pavilion in San Jose. The Gilroy native is currently on a 16-match unbeaten streak.
