California Shock Trauma Air Rescue is a nonprofit community resource dedicated solely to saving and preserving the lives of people that are sick or injured. The dedicated women and men that make up our pilot and flight nurse corps never refuse vital and essential emergency nor trauma medical flight services, and never ever based upon an injured patient’s ability to pay.
From our base in Gilroy, as well as from our five other California rescue helipads located from Ukiah to Santa Maria, and South Lake Tahoe to Concord, CALSTAR helicopters and airplanes, flying emergency rooms essentially, are dispatched to retrieve the most seriously injured. We land and transport injured adults and children from mountaintops, within horrendous freeway traffic incidents, as well as at local airports and helipads for critical patients from smaller hospitals to go to more specialized burn, cardiac, trauma and neonatal units, all within the golden hour. Our flights save countless lives.
Other leaders of the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce, as well as myself, occasionally express our opinions about taxpayer or voter’s rights issues that effect us all as a community. Our personal opinions however should not necessarily be construed to reflect the opinions of our restaurants, insurance firms or other businesses particularly.
All of the work that I perform for CALSTAR, whether it be regarding relations with local, regional, and state governments, helping to raise funding or construct staff housing to facilitate a second rescue base for our region in this part of California, or even organizing local CALSTAR flyovers and events, is conducted in my capacity as a volunteer member of the CALSTAR Board of Advisors. CALSTAR makes no political distinctions in its life saving community role, and as such nor do I represent any political viewpoint upon CALSTAR’s behalf.
All political activities that I may be personally involved with do not reflect the views of all the diverse men and women that make up CALSTAR. The foundation that I am the CEO for, completely separate from CALSTAR, has in the past, and continues to this day to maintain its own membership within the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce.
