Dear Editor,
I must take you to task for failing to report to the readers of your paper in regards to the article on May 5 titled “101 wreck snarls 101, MH traffic”…by a staff reporter refering to an accident on Wednesday, May 4 northbound 101 near Tennant Ave in Morgan Hill.
Even though the writer eluded to the fact that the vehicle had rolled over at 5:45am – and sat there till 7:21am on it’s top blocking most of the lanes, there was no indicators from the CHP in the article as to why this was the case. I think you owe the readers an explanation as to why the pick-up truck sat there for 1.5 hours blocking thousands of motorists! What was the problem? The last time I looked at a marked CHP cruiser, there is a very strong push bumper on the front of their cars. Can’t they put the CHP cruiser in low-gear and shove the vehicle out of the way? Was there a problem with the tow vehicle service on the CHP rotation list? Did they have an inept driver who doesn’t know how to work a wreck – thereby causing thousands of people to be delayed? Where is the CHP comments as to why this was such a mess?
Tom Vance, Gilroy,
Editor’s note: Officer Chris Gallego told the Dispatch that traffic was blocked in the two right-hand lanes, and funneled through the remaining lane and part of the median until the truck was cleared at 7:21am.
