Cheaper water for the city?
After a productive and informative meeting with Luke Brugnara Friday morning, Councilman Perry Woodward said city officials will soon examine Gilroy’s contract with the Santa Clara Valley Water District to see how exactly the city can purchase water from Brugnara. Brugnara met with City Administrator Tom Haglund, Mayor Al Pinheiro and Woodward to discuss his discounted water offer — which could save the city up to $2.1 million a year — and afterward, he and Woodward visited his property on Redwood Retreat Road to check out his dam on Little Arthur Creek northwest of Gilroy.
School district survey results return
Several loose ends were tied up at Thursday night’s Gilroy Unified School District board meeting when the Christopher High School architect and the firm that conducted a voter opinion survey presented information. The results of the survey showed the community would likely back a bond but not a parcel tax. With a $35 million gap looming and money needed for Phase II of CHS, putting another bond on the ballot is a distinct possibility.
