The Community Law Enforcement Foundation of Morgan Hill (CLEF) selected Deputy District Attorney Stuart Scott of Morgan Hill as the 2014 Public Safety Award recipient, recognizing him for his work in prosecuting some of the South County’s most violent crimes including homicides, gang crimes, auto theft and the sexual assault of children and adults.
“I am humbled to have been selected for the 2014 Public Safety Award. What a great honor,” said Scott. “It is further proof that by working together as a community, we can reduce violence and crime in Santa Clara County.”
Scott has been with the DA’s office for 21 years and has devoted his career to safeguarding South County by keeping violent criminals off the street and ensuring justice for the victims of those crimes. During his career he has worked closely with advocacy groups to help victims through the harrowing court process.
Scott will receive the award during the 2014 Cops & Robbers Ball in May when an estimated 200 friends, supporters and community leaders will gather at the Morgan Hill Community Center to honor Scott and to support the Community Law Enforcement Foundation.
Honorees for the award are selected by the Community Law Enforcement Foundation’s Board of Directors based on nominations submitted to the board. Selection criteria includes service to the community and a dedication towards ensuring a safer Morgan Hill.
The Cops & Robbers Ball will include a hosted reception, a dinner catered by Mama Mia’s, elegant wines courtesy of Léal Vineyards, silent and live auctions, a complimentary “Bonnie & Clyde” photo with the MHPD ’55 Oldsmobile and dancing. Attire is black tie optional. Tickets are $95 per person and must be purchased in advance.
Funds raised at previous events supported the MHPD’s K-9, or police dog program, as well as the Volunteers in Policing program which assists officers with such duties as traffic control, parking enforcement and community patrol. The donations have also purchased License Plate Recognition systems, Night Vision equipment and First Responder Medical Kits for patrol cars.
