Kohl's and the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford will be hosting a free car safety event and car seat fitting from 9:30 a.m. to noon Thursday, Sept. 19 at the Gilroy Kohl's, located at 6765 Camino Arroyo.

John Sheedy, left, and officer David Aceves, bottom, prepare to search a residence in the apartment complex at 7672 Church St. According to Sheedy, the police were interested in talking to a male subject regarding possession of a handgun and involved in an early morning dispute in front of the complex where the man apparently brandished the weapon. He was unaware if it was related to two recent stolen vehicles from the same area during the last week.
