This week the GPD has been busy with raiding an illegal gambling operation along with a myriad of other incidents, including a guy who allegedly exposed himself to a woman walking down the street. Here’s a handful of some of the more newsworthy events:
Child falls from second floor apartment
A 3-year-old child fell from an upstairs apartment on IOOF avenue at 12:42 a.m. on Aug. 25. He was unconscious and was taken to a San Jose medical center. He is in stable condition. The case will be sent to Child Protection Services for review to see if any child abuse was involved.
Gambling raid leads to five arrests
As a part of the raid of Liberty PCS, the alleged illegal sweepstakes café at 1325 First St., around 3 p.m. Aug. 22, five people were arrested – four customers and one employee.
Hector Castro, 24, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance
Ruby Huerta, 50, was arrested for being in possession of a glass pipe with black residue.
Margaret Galvan, 45, was arrested for being in possession of a glass pipe with methamphetamine residue.
Eugene Martinez, 50, was arrested for an outstanding warrant.
Orlando Delrio, the 24-year-old security guard at Liberty PCS was arrested on the scene for concealing a gun under his leather jacket. He was taken to Santa Clara County Jail.
Brian Lowery, 35, was arrested for resisting, delaying and obstructing an officer, and for possession of three hypodermic needles. He was also taken to jail.
Date rape
A woman reported that she was raped by someone she knew while drunk at her friend’s house on Mantelli Drive at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 22. The GPD has not made an arrest on the case.
Two-time DUI offender arrested
A man by the name of Humberto Garcia, 30 of Gilroy, was pulled over on Farrell Avenue and Monterey Street for driving under the influence in a 1996 red Ford Aerostar. Garcia lied about his name, police say, to conceal a warrant for a prior DUI. He was arrested for the DUI and the warrant and was taken to jail at 10:13 p.m. on Aug. 23.
Indecent exposure
Just after midnight on Aug. 25, 24-year-old Gilroy man, Damian Arellano allegedly approached a 50-year-old woman on Church and Seventh streets and asked her if she wanted to see his genitals. He pulled down his sweat pants and exposed himself. When police arrived, they said they found marijuana in his pockets. He was taken to jail for lewd and lascivious acts and released with a notice to appear in court.
