The Croy Fire brought heartache and tragedy to a number of
people. Our entire community has given thanks to the firefighters
for their efforts in that fire. However, we owe them more thanks
for another contribution they made
– a quiet gesture that is still making a difference.

The Croy Fire brought heartache and tragedy to a number of people. Our entire community has given thanks to the firefighters for their efforts in that fire. However, we owe them more thanks for another contribution they made – a quiet gesture that is still making a difference.
When the crews from all over the state left, some of the food they had brought in to feed the armies of firefighters was leftover. The local California Department of Forestry (Santa Clara Unit) and its Unit Chief, Steven Woodill, arranged for the cases of canned goods, bottled water, and other supplies to go to those in need here in our community.
St. Joseph’s Family Center is extremely grateful to the CDF for its donation. Hungry children, families and the homeless will benefit for a long while from the CDF’s kindness. The Second Harvest Food Bank and the Emergency Housing Consortium also were beneficiaries of that generosity.
