Dear Editor,
Volunteers are needed on Thursday, Sept. 9. The South County Council of the United Way Silicon Valley invites you to lend a hand (or many hands) to a United Way agency in your community. These non-profit agencies provide the things we often don’t think about until we need them – such as senior services, children’s programs, domestic violence counseling and emergency shelter for families who have lost their homes. Many of the agencies that provide these services, right here in our community, have unmet needs. Volunteers can make a difference.
Sept. 9 is the United Way Day of Caring. On or before that day, we invite South County businesses and service organizations to adopt one of the many projects that will help local nonprofits.
Paint a day room, plant flowers at a shelter, or help repair a basketball hoop. Two local companies, Hospira and Paramit, have already stepped forward to help! Their employees donated a Saturday in May to repaint the main recreation room at the Mt. Madonna YMCA Senior Center in Morgan Hill. Please contact Mark Tolley at 408-345-4306 or ma*********@**sv.org to inquire about the Day of Caring!
