UN-spooky Haunted House
GILROY – St. Mary’s Youth Group presents their sixth annual “Haunted House” on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 6 to 9 p.m. at St. Mary Church gym, 11 First St. Adults are $5 and kids are $3. There will be a non-scary children’s area with games, crafts and prizes. Food will also be available for purchase. Details: 847-5151.

GILROY – Rod and Marion Pintello present “Social Security” at the Pintello Comedy Theater, 8531 Church St.
The play is based on the hilarious antics of two sisters trying to figure out where their elderly mother should live.

Gavilan hosts first triathlon
GILROY – Gavilan College is hosting its first triathlon, Saturday, Oct. 25, presented by Wolfpak Triathlon Club and the Gavilan Rams women’s softball team. The Gavilan College Triathlon will begin at 8 a.m. on the college campus in Gilroy. The event will include a 400-yard pool swim, a 15-mile bike ride and a 3-mile trail run. Cost is $40 per person in advance, $45 the day of the event. A relay team (three people) can register for $70; $80 the day of the event. T-shirts, refreshment and prizes are included. Dress up your pet
GILROY – Do you have a devilish dog? Or a frightening feline? Maybe a heavenly hamster? If any of your pets match these descriptions, or they just like to dress up in silly costumes, take them into PETCO, 8767 San Ysidro Ave., on Saturday, Oct. 25, at noon for the Howl-o-ween Pet Costume Contest.
All contestants will receive a Howl-o-ween goody bag filled with free surprises, and one lucky winner at each store will receive a $25 PETCO gift card.
Kids can enter PETCO’s coloring contest. Each store winner receives a $5 PETCO gift card. Coloring sheets can be picked up at PETCO, and they are due back in the store Saturday, Oct. 25.Details: 846-2844.
It’s a wonderful appearance
GILROY – Karolyn Grimes, or “Zuzu” of “It’s A Wonderful Life” will be making appearances in Gilroy on Sunday, Oct. 26. She will be at The Wize Owl Bookstore, 8060 Santa Teresa Blvd., from 4 to 6 p.m. to speak and sign copies of her pictorial book. She will continue on to the Historical Strand Theater, 7588 Monterey St., at 7 p.m. to meet and greet and enjoy a screening of the movie. Details: Wize Owl at 848-9090.
