Annual Installation Dinner on Nov. 1, at the Hilton Garden Inn,

no-host social, followed by dinner at 7 p.m., and the Chamber

Sleepy Hollow

GILROY – South Valley Civic Theatre presents its teen show “Sleepy Hollow.” Performances will be held weekends from Nov.1 to Nov. 16. at the Gilroy High School Theater. ‘American Ideal’ Auditions

GILROY – John Bisceglie’s newest show, “American Ideal,” will hold auditions on Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Gilroy Senior Center. “American Ideal” is a multimedia revue featuring pop hits from the 1940’s to today with many current hits. Auditions for children ages 5 to 12 will begin at 10 a.m., and children ages 13 and over at 1 p.m. Auditioning performers should prepare a short, up-tempo song a capella and wear comfortable shoes and clothing for easy movement. Tennis Championships

GILROY – The Gilroy Autumn Junior Championships, co-sponsored by the U.S. Tennis Association and the Gilroy Tennis Club, will begin Saturday, Nov. 2 in Gilroy. The players, age 12 to 18, from all over the state have qualified to compete in this tournament by winning or placing in events throughout 2002. They will test their skill at various tennis courts throughout the city on Nov. 2, 3, 9 and 10. Matches will be held at Las Animas Veterans Park, Gilroy High School and Gavilan Community College tennis courts. The games are open to the public at no charge and run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Profits received from tournament entry fees are returned to the City of Gilroy through Gilroy Tennis Club, Inc. grants for court construction and refurbishment. Weekend Voting

SAN JOSE – The Registrar of Voters Office in Santa Clara County will be open the weekend before the Nov. 5 General Election for voting. Voting on the weekend is an option available to any of the approximately 730,000 voters eligible to cast ballots in November’s election. Weekend Voting will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2 and Sunday, Nov. 3. The Registrar of Voters Office is located at 1555 Berger Drive, Building 2, San Jose. Pancake Breakfast

GILROY – The Italian Catholic Federation will have its semi-annual pancake breakfast, Sunday, Nov. 3 from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Hall, First Street, Gilroy. Items served will be pancakes, sausage, eggs, milk, coffee and juice. Adults are $5 and children under 12 are $3. All proceeds go to the scholarship fund. For more information, call 847-1331.

Resource Faire

GILROY – On Tuesday, Nov. 5 the Gilroy Family Resource Center, 8833 Monterey Road, will hold its Resource Faire from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Social workers, staff and community members can come gather resources for families at the Resource Center Open House and South County Showcase of Resources. Gavilan Transfer Day

GILROY – The Gavilan College Career and Transfer Center presents Transfer Day. Representatives from the University of California, California State University, private colleges and universities and the military will participate in this annual event at Gavilan College. They will be prepared to meet with students and answer questions regarding admission requirements, major preparation, housing, financial aid, and scholarships. Sixteen private schools, 14 CSU’s, and seven UC’s will have representatives at Transfer Day. Gavilan College will also provide financial aid and scholarship information. This event is open to the public. High school students, parents, continuing students and those considering returning to school, or beginning a college education are encouraged to attend.

The event will be held Thursday, Nov. 7 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Gavilan College Student Center, Gilroy campus, 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd. Admission is free. On-campus parking is 75 cents. For more information, please call The Gavilan College Career and Transfer Center at 848-4818.

Starting Your Own Business

GILROY – Learn how to get started the right way by participating in this two-hour seminar presented by the Gavilan College Small Business Development Center. The class will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 5 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Gavilan College SBDC office, 7426 Monterey St., Gilroy. “Starting Your Own Business” presents an overview of marketing essentials, product selection, business goal setting, legal issues, licenses required, risk evaluation, bookkeeping, financing and management issues.
