Plea postponed for alleged sexual offender
SAN MARTIN
– The plea hearing for an unincorporated Gilroy man charged with
sexually assaulting an area girl under the age of 14 was delayed
Tuesday.
Pablo Enrique Castillo, 23, will now enter his plea on Dec. 27,
giving his new public defender time to research police
evidence.
If convicted for the multiple counts of aggravated sexual
assault of a child under 14 years old, Castillo could face life in
prison. He is currently in protective custody in county jail with a
$1 million bail.
Castillo was arrested by Santa Clara County Sheriff’s deputies
on Oct. 18 after they seized at least one home video tape from
Castillo’s home that showed a young, naked girl.
Authorities were tipped off about the alleged assault when a
co-worker of Castillo’s notified the Hollister Police Department
that Castillo might be involved in child pornography.
