GriefShare recovery seminar and support group meets at First Baptist Church in Gilroy each Sunday night at 7pm. The church is located at 8455 Wren Ave.

GriefShare features nationally recognized experts on grief and recovery topics. Seminar sessions include “When Your Dreams Fall Apart,” “The Seasons of Grief,” “Emotions Of Grief,” “When Your Spouse Dies,” “Your Family and Grief” and “Growing Through Grief.”

South Bay Music Makers meet Saturday

Gilroy – The South Bay Music Makers will hold its next bi-monthly meeting on Saturday, Oct. 9, from 1 to 4pm at the studios of Monterey Street Music Academy, 7423 Monterey St.

All interested performers and listeners are invited to join this growing group and share a few hours of good music and fellowship. Bus service changes go into effect Monday

Beginning Monday, the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority will implement the following changes to bus service:

Line 17 – Gilroy Transit Center to St. Louise Hospital – will be extended to Camino Arroyo and Highway 152.

Northbound trips on Line 19 – Gilroy Transit Center to First Street and Santa Teresa Boulevard – that operate to Sunrise Drive and Santa Teresa on weekdays will reroute to also operate on First Street, Kern Avenue, Mantelli Drive, Hirasaki Court, Longmeadow Drive and Santa Teresa to Sunrise.

Express Line 521 – Gilroy Transit Center to Lockheed Martin/Moffett Park – will operate four minutes later on the last southbound evening trip to improve connections with light rail.

Neighborhood health clinic open house

Gilroy – South Valley Junior High presents a “Gilroy Neighborhood Health Clinic Open House” on Thursday, Oct. 14, from 4:30 to 7pm. Serving youths up through the age of 18, Gilroy Neighborhood Clinic is a resource for families in need of free or low-cost medical care for kids. Balloons and prizes will be available for children. Learn Halloween safety with GPD, get dental screening for kids with The Health Trust, learn about low-cost health care for adults with the RotoCare Health Clinic and more. Learn to become a Mystery Shopper!

Gilroy – The course is held on Friday, Oct. 15 from 6:30 to 9:30pm. If you like to buy clothes, play golf, watch movies, eat out and rent videos, then you can become a mystery shopper. Earn extra money and have fun at the same time. This is a great part-time job for students, retirees, and stay-at-home parents. Learn how mystery shopping works, what types of assessment forms are used, how to complete an assignment and how to get into the “shopper’s network.” (Class fee $49 and $6 materials fee). Learn to take great photographs

Gilroy – Whether you are using film or digital format cameras, here is your chance to see like the professionals and understand what makes a great photo great. This two-hour class will help you shoot like a pro and stop taking ‘snapshots’. No camera needed. Instructor James M. Mohs is the award-winning chief photographer of The Dispatch. Participants should be ages 16 and older please. Classes will be held on Oct. 16 and 23 from 10am to noon in the Senior Center Meeting Room. Registration fee is $20, or $24 to non-residents.
