Gilroy Young Plants defeat Toto’s Stingers; Both teams tied atop
division with 4-1 records
Gilroy – The Eagles clinched at least a tie for the second-half Men’s DDD League basketball title Wednesday by trimming Handmade Healthcare 55-51 at Solorsano Gymnasium.
Jesus Reyes scored six points in the final nine minutes as the Eagles (4-2) erased a 40-39 deficit. Reyes led the winners with 14 points. Al Angulo provided 11 points, Kevin Steele and Bob Lincoln seven apiece for the Eagles.
Britt Bigelow tallied 19 points to pace 2-2 Handmade Healthcare.
The winner of the second half of the DDD League will face Flash in the best 2-of-3 Championship Series.
Michael Moore (18 points) and Bobby Martin (12) each popped in two three-point field goals to spark Corde Ball’n past GC Farms 44-32. Kevin Jarvis exploded for 16 points for the Farmers.

Bill Haughney and Joe Sutter each scored 14 points to lead the Plants attack. Jacob Thorn collected nine points, Arnold Tellez seven for the Stingers.
Andrew Matthews poured in 21 points as Headstart defeated Flash 76-38. Carlos Guerrero netted 18 points, Shannon Farrington 12, Robert Lemmon and Bill Christopher 11 apiece for the winners. Steve Connor tallied 12 points, Asa Saito 11 for Flash.
Mark Cisneros scored 14 points Tuesday as Pizza N’ Stuff defeated CordeValle 47-38 in Men’s D League play.
Sony Old Elk added nine points as Pizza N’ Stuff (4-0) clinched at least a tie for the second-half pennant. Matt Tait led CordeValle with nine points.
Michael Vanni struck for 21 points to highlight a 57-55 New Hope Community Church win over Morgan Hill Garage Door. Chris Soto scored 18 points, Sergio Montenegro 16 for New Hope. Jeran Campanella and Blair Worthington each managed 14 points, Danny Rodriguez 13 for Morgan Hill Garage Door.
