Gilroy – A tractor hit a support wire on an electricity pole on the 2000 block of Hecker Pass Highway just before 8pm Thursday night, cutting off power to 5,968 homes and businesses in the area. Within a half-hour, power was restored to all but 1,1615 customers, who were back online by 9:21pm. A PG&E troubleshooter single-handedly fixed the problem at the site, said spokesperson Craig Koscho. Gilroy police and firefighters redirected traffic around the accident.
