The Shell Station will be expanding and remodeling their

Locals who grabbed a latte at Starbucks or did some post-holiday bargain hunting at Kohl’s this weekend may have noticed the forthcoming closure of a heavily trafficked shortcut into the Gilroy Crossing shopping center, located along Highway 152 just east of U.S. Highway 101.

Whereas eastbound drivers can normally make a right-hand turn into the Shell Gas Station near the intersection of Pacheco Pass Highway and Camino Arroyo – then continue onto Gilroy Crossing’s bevy of stores and food venues – the portal will be sealed in the next month or two, according to one of Shell’s store clerks.

A pair of signs staked on either side of the passageway between Shell and the shopping complex notifies the public of an impending “permanent closure of entrance.”

The change is part of a proposed remodel and addition for the gas station at 850 Pacheco Pass Highway. Owner Steve Vu was contacted for details but was not reached as of press time.

When the Shell entryway to Gilroy Crossing is closed off, visitors will have to funnel into the 325,431-square foot retail hotspot via one of two main entrances off Camino Arroyo.

Gilroy Crossing opened in 2004 and includes stores Bed, Bath & Beyond, PetSmart, Target, Barnes & Noble, Sports Authority and more than a dozen restaurants.
