Dear Editor,

The Adult Dinner/Dance on Saturday, Feb. 26 at St. Mary’s in support of the Youth Group’s Mexico Mission/Home Building Trip will be a special occasion.

For the fourth year in a row, the teens will building three or four new homes from the ground up in a week’s time and experience “first hand” the grinding poverty so prevalent in developing countries.

The evening promises be filled with fun and good food, all for a great cause.

In addition, all aspects of the dinner will be served using biodegradable tableware and all waste will be either composted or recycled. In coordination with the City of Gilroy and South Valley Disposal, food waste and biodegradable materials are allowed to be combined with yard waste for composting. The plates and hot cups are made from sugar cane, the cold cups from potatoes and corn, the utensils from non-GMO wheat, and even the trash bags are made from corn starch. Fair Trade coffee from Mexico will also be served.

Please plan to attend the Dinner/Dance and support our young people as they journey to Mexico. For more information, contact Clorete Almeida at 848-6034.
