Everett Edmond Dillon

Everett E. Dillon passed away at Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital at the age of 95 years.

Everett was a native of Silver Lake, KS. He came to California in 1935, settled in Gilroy, where he worked as a automobile mechanic. In 1957, he moved to Salinas and was employed by the Monterey County Mosquito Abatement District until his retirement.

In 1978, he and his spouse Myrtle moved to Hollister, built a new home adjacent to his daughter and son-in-law Virgie and Peter Alosi and then began traveling with the Antique Car Club throughout the U.S., Alaska, and Canada.

During his retirement, he and Myrtle traveled to Ireland, enjoyed taking hunting and fishing trips, and spending time with their friends. Everett loved playing cards and playing practical jokes on his buddies. Besides restoring antique automobiles he spent several years building race cars for the oval track and drag racing.

In addition to his spouse of 72 years, Everett is survived by his daughter Virgie (late Peter); his grandchildren Janice Alosi (Gregg Bonturi), Gerald Alosi and spouse Laurie of Hollister, and Susan Calleri and husband Robert of Tres Pinos; his great-grandchildren Kenneth and Daniel Calleri, Katherine and Breanna Alosi; and four living sisters. He was predeceased by three sisters and one brother.

Friends are invited to a celebration of Everett’s life on Thursday evening, April 7th at 6:00 P.M. at the Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home 870 San Benito St., Hollister. Private inurnment will have been held at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
