DEAR EDITOR:
I am writing this letter on behalf of Kristen Porter. I have known Kristen for the last four years. Over the course of these four years, Kristen has been an invaluable asset to the Ride A Wave Program, which is a non-profit, 100 percent volunteer organization that provides a full day of beach activities for economically, developmentally and physically challenged children.
Not only did Kristen volunteer her time on the beach working with the children, she spent countless hours behind the scene establishing the fundamental structure of the Ride A Wave organization. Kristen’s dedication and enthusiasm shines throughout any endeavor she pursues.
I find it disheartening that people would try to discredit her as a person because of her involvement in the arts. To those concerned, I have seen one of her shows and it was not scandalous, not sexual, rather witty and clever.
If people are looking at activities that Kristen pursues outside of the classroom to reflect upon her character, please look at her involvement with Ride A Wave. I think this is a true reflection of the type of person Kristen is.
