Emergency officials closed Las Animas Avenue east of U.S. Highway 101 in Gilroy Wednesday after a forklift collided with a utility poll, bringing down power lines.
Officials from PG&E aren’t arrived on the scene around 5 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Early estimates were that 1 mile of power lines had been affected, though CalFire Battalion Chief Jim Crawford said it was likely less than that.
According to PG&E, approximately 15 customers lost power.
No injuries have been reported.
CHP Officer Jaime Rios said a perimeter was set up to keep residents at a safe distance from the scene.
