Frank A. Barbosa died in Gilroy Friday, April 22, 2005. He was 79.
Born in Los Angeles, Mr. Barbosa worked many years as a tow truck driver and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was awarded the Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He attended St. Mary’s Church in Gilroy – where he has lived for more than 50 years – the VFW and American Legion.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Mary Helen Barbosa of Gilroy, Frank Martin Barbosa Jr. of Gilroy, Marshall Barbosa of Gilroy, Phyllis and Tito Hernandez of Gilroy, Daniel Barbosa of Gilroy and Corrine and Ignacio Arias of Hollister; brothers and sister, John Barbosa of Santa Maria, Phillip Barbosa of Bakersfield and Linda Barbosa of Reno, Nev.; 17 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ramona who died in 1991 and his twin brother, Ray, who died in November of 2004.
Friends can pay their respects from noon to 8pm, Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home in Hollister. A Rosary and vigil service will be held at 7pm.
A Mass will be celebrated at 10am Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at Old Mission San Juan Bautista in San Juan Bautista. Friends can gather at the funeral home at 9:15am for a procession to the church.
Interment and graveside services will follow the Mass at San Juan District Cemetery with military rites being performed by the VFW from San Juan and Hollister.
