GILROY – Donte Fullard hit two free throws with three seconds to play to give Pizza N Stuff a 53-52 victory over FFC Tuesday in Men’s C League adult basketball play at Solorsano Gymnasium.

The 16-team Gilroy Community Services Department plays games on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights at the new facility. Three four-team men’s leagues and one four-team women’s league will compete through February.

Miguel Gilliard poured in 22 points to key the Pizza N Stuff attack. Sergio Montenegro tossed in 20 points and Tony Purnell followed with 13 for FFC.

Defending league champion Gaeta’s Taqueria opened the twinbill with a 40-29 nod over Triple Threat. Richard Klauer and Juan Rios were good for eight points apiece for the winners. Jacob Garcia countered with 13 Triple Threat points.

Bob Lemon scored 23 points and Don Hall added 21 as Headstart Nursery opened the D League play with a 55-48 decision over Cordevalle. Bobby Martin hit three three-point field goals on the way to a team-high 11 points for Cordevalle. Chris Vigilante scored 10 points.

Armando Ocampo scored 17 points and Brit Bigelow added 10 as Beale Properties defeated Pro Electric-Gavilan Honda-Rio Nilo 50-38. Andres Espinosa struck for 15 points, Alexis Rivas 10 for the losers.

Bill Haughney tallied 12 points Thursday as Gilroy Young Plants opened the Men’s E League season with a 43-32 nod over the Titans. Vance Lee produced nine points, Duane Ross eight for the Titans.

Ed Gamboa and Daniel DeLeon each scored 10 points as the Playaz outlasted the Sand Pit 45-43. Adolfo Mireles hit three 3-pointers and led the Sand Pit with 17 points.

Maxine Chavez exploded for 14 points Wednesday as Williams Dental Lab opened the Women’s League season with a 37-22 victory over R.J. Dyer Real Property Investments.

Susie Clark hit four second-half baskets for the Dental Lab. Missy Hice and Gretchen Yoder-Schrock each scored eight points for R.J. Dyer.

Cristi Ledesma worked inside for 13 points as defending champion Above the Rim defeated the Sparks 37-26. Shanah Keyes poured in 11 points for the Sparks.
