Morgan Hill – Upholding the traditional “Community Project” aspect of Basic Police Academies throughout the state, the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office Academy recruits have been working with each other for the last two weeks to identify an event that will demonstrate their dedication to the community for which they will be serving. They have selected two events that will be held Saturday, from 8am to 5pm.

The first event will be a four-hour trash and shrubbery clean up at Murphy Springs Park in Morgan Hill.

The second half of the day will be a four-hour William F. James Boys Ranch team-building project. The residents of the Boy’s Ranch are participating in a structured re-development program, which includes activities, education, and trade exposure. The academy recruits will be assigned to work with the boy’s to assist in the landscaping, general clean up and rebuilding decorations.

Mike Sims, the director of the James Boys Ranch, said he is excited about the project and is looking forward to future contacts between the residents of the ranch and the recruits attending the Justice Training Center, located at what was once the Harold Holden Boys Ranch adjacent to the James Boys Ranch.
