GILROY – Gaeta’s clinched at least a tie for the second-half Men’s D League basketball title Tuesday with a 65-53 decision over Handmade Healthcare at South Valley.
Marmet Williams scored 22 points and Nathan Sanders followed with 16 as Gaeta’s moved to 5-0, one game ahead of Morgan Hill Garage Door with one week to play in the regular season.
David Herrera posted 12 points for the winners. Britt Bigelow his six three-point field goals in a 32-point performance for Handmade, the first-half E League champion.
Garage Door reached the 4-1 mark with a 60-44 decision over Headstart. Jacob Garcia struck for 20 points, Jadrien Garcia 12 for the winners. Bill Christopher led the Headstart offense wih 17 points, with John Blaettler working inside for 14.
Fritter-Schulz Physical Therapy outlasted Dutchman’s Pizza-Krazy Koyote 75-64. Josh Carter exploded for 29 points and A.J. Matthews followed with 15 markers for the Therapists. Aaron Miller scored 14 points, Geoff Grio 12 for the winners. Rob Silvia tallied 20 points, Mark Cisneros 16 and Edward Lujan 11 for Dutchman-Koyote.
Williams Dental Lab remained in a tie for first place in the Women’s League Wednesday with a 42-23 victory over Togo’s. Maxine Chavez popped in 13 points and Susie Clark delivered 12 points for the 4-1 Dental Lab. Wendy Filice-Strametz led Togo’s with eight points.
Christi Ledesma scored 19 points as 4-1 Above The Rim defeated Krazy Koyote-Dutchman’s Pizza 42-28. Jeanna Lyon added 10 points for the Rim. Lilia Flores scored 10 points for Koyote-Dutchman.
Pizza N Stuff-Toto Stingers powered past the Titans 52-25 Thursday to remain tied atop the eight-team Men’s E League with a 5-0 second-half record.
Andres Espinosa scored 17 points and Alexis Rivas hit for 14 for the Stingers. Ron Reed paced the Titans with 11 points.
Rocha’s Drywall used a 22-point effort by Bryce Hall to top Stuft Pizza 51-37 Wednesday. Jose Maciel contributed 11 points, Jeff Luu 10 as Rocha’s moved to 5-0. Charles Nguyen scored 13 points for Stuft Pizza.
Net Magic is in third place at 4-1 after a 64-56 decision over Goldsmith Seeds. Tony Maquinalez scored 21 points, Jeremy Dirks 13 for Magic. Keith Muraoka poured in 19 points, Chris Vigilante 18 and Joel Goldsmith 16 for Goldsmith Seeds.
