Goal of fashion show to raise awareness of the critical issue of
Latino higher education
SANTA CLARA – San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jeff Garcia will be the honorary host of the 2003 Hispanic Scholarship Fund/Jeff Garcia ¡Estilo Latino!, a special fashion and entertainment fundraising event benefiting Bay Area Latino college students. The event will be held Monday, September 22, at Ruby Skye (420 Mason Street, San Francisco). Doors open at 7:30 p.m.
Garcia, of Gilroy, a longtime supporter of HSF, and special guest star and Latino musical sensation Carlos Ponce will be joined by other celebrities from the world of sports, entertainment and fashion, to celebrate the best in Latino culture and raise support for scholarships for deserving Latino students. Several Latino designers featured will include: Henry Duarte, Eduardo Lucero, Estevan Ramos, David Rodriguez and more.
The goal of the event is to raise awareness of the critical issue of Latino higher education. The evening will feature a mix of fashion, musical performances, a live auction and Latin cuisine.
Over the past three years, Garcia has been a committed supporter of the Hispanic Scholarship Fund and has raised more than $250,000 towards scholarships for Bay Area Hispanic college students.
