The Gavilan baseball team grabbed an early lead against Canada, but it just wasn’t able to hold on in the conference play opener.
The Rams lost 6-4 to Canada College at home Wednesday. The game was rescheduled from Tuesday due to weather.
Gavilan held a 3-0 lead until the visitors posted a two-spot in the in the top of the fourth. Gavilan answered with a run off Jake Conlan’s RBI single to score Danny Guiterrez in the bottom of the fifth to lead 4-2. But that was all the hosts were able to muster up as Canada would score a run in both the seventh and eighth innings and two more in the ninth. 
The Rams (7-8 overall, 0-1 in conference) will take on Skyline College at 2 p.m. today at home.
