Erik Barron’s bat was red hot for Gavilan Saturday.
Barron drove in four RBIs for the Rams in their 9-1 win over San Francisco City College at home. It’s the team’s second straight.
Gavilan already held a 2-1 lead when Barron stepped up to the plate in the bottom of the fifth. The Rams had the bases loaded and with one swing, Barron cleared them. He homered, giving his team a 6-1 lead.
The Rams added another run in the bottom of the sixth off a solo home run from Rex Lagman.
Gavilan took advantage of another bases loaded situation in the bottom of the eighth. Tony Amaral singled to score Kevin Burley and keep the bags full. Bryant Cid followed that with another single to score Lagman for the final run.
San Francisco City was the first to score, pushing a run across in the top of the fourth. The Rams answered in the bottom half of the inning when Edgar Arriola singled to score Cid. Tyler Slayday then reached on an error to bring home Barron.
Barron led Gavilan, going 2 for 3 with four RBIs, two runs scored, a homer and a walk. Amaral was 4 for 5 with a run, an RBI and a stolen base. Cid finished 1 for 3 with a run, an RBI and two walks. Lagman went 2 for 4 with two runs, an RBI, and a homer.
The Rams (8-3 overall, 1-0 in conference) will be back on the field at 2 p.m. Tuesday to host Ohlone.
