Loving scores 11 points in 55-50 road loss to Salinas High
SALINAS – The Mustang hoopsters headed to Salinas High for their Tri-County Athletic League opener on Thursday and came out on the losing end of a 55-50 decision.
Senior center Kyle Loving led the Mustangs with 11 points, while senior Ron Colmon, senior Kyle Warren, and senior Brandt Chacon added eight points apiece. Steven Good contributed seven points.
Gilroy (2-10, 0-1) was 12-of-17 from the free throw line.
The Mustangs trailed 30-22 at the half, and trimmed the gap to four at the end of the third quarter, but could not rally past the Cowboys (8-8, 1-0).
Up next, Gilroy will head to Hollister (11-6, 1-0) on Thursday night at seven o’clock before returning home for a Jan. 27 game against Palma.
