SALINAS – The Gilroy High boys soccer team finished in a scoreless tie against host Alisal to open its non-league schedule on Friday.
Junior midfielder Alfonso Motagalvan missed a penalty shot at the end of the first half, after senior teammate Javier Hernandez was taken down in the box.
“We only had two days of actual practice with the team we have (before Friday’s game),” head coach Armando Padilla said.
Juniors Artemio Arteaga and Ismael Nava played strong for the Mustangs.
