Gilroy – Police arrested a 20-year-old local man in connection with the Oct. 23 shooting of a Gilroy man in a liquor store parking lot.

Daniel Michael Zuniga, 7530 Church St. B, was arrested at 6:38pm Sunday at his home, on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a firearm, shooting at an occupied vehicle, and obstructing justice, all felony charges, police said.

Police believe Zuniga shot the 22-year-old Gilroy man twice while Zuniga was in his car, after the two vehicles pulled into the Church Street parking lot. The victim – who also was sitting in a car at the time of the shooting – was struck once in the arm and once in the leg. He called police from a nearby apartment and was treated at San Jose Medical Center.

The shooter fled the scene.

The investigation is ongoing and more arrests could be made, police said.
