Gilroy Police helped catch a murder suspect from Los Banos Saturday morning on the 700 block of Dartmouth Place in Gilroy.
The murder took place in Los Banos on Sept. 13 and that city’s police and Gilroy’s staked out a house where the suspect, Tony Lujan, was staying.
At 10:30 a.m. Lujan ran out of the house as police were waiting for a SWAT team to arrive. He climbed a fence and was arrested in a neighboring backyard, without incident, police said.Â
Lujan is a suspect in the killing of Rene Cruz Sandoval, 35, who was found at 3:45 p.m. bleeding outside a home in the 300 block of H Street in Los Banos. Police haven’t yet released cause of death.Â
It was the first murder of the year in that city.
