Police are on the lookout for a Gilroy gang member suspected of assaulting a man in front of his family in the Safeway shopping center June 19.

Robert Navarro, 21, who alleged to belong to a subset of the Norteno gang, has an active warrant for his arrest after he and three other men punched and kicked a man several times before fleeing in a vehicle, Sgt. Chad Gallacinao said.

“Obviously, we take this very seriously because gang violence is not tolerated,” Gallacinao said.

Another suspect in the case, 19-year-old Gilroy resident Isaac Luna, turned himself into police on Monday, he said. The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department arrested a third suspect, 18-year-old Gilroy resident Michael Campos, on July 27 for assault with a deadly weapon.

A fourth unknown suspect remains at large.

The four suspects are all apart of a subset of the Norteno gang, police said.

The suspects allegedly attacked the victim at about 10 p.m. June 19 in the shopping center on the 900 block of First Street, according to police.

The victim, who was not involved in any gang activities, fell to the curb right in front of his wife and 2-year-old daughter.

Anyone with information on the case is urged to call Gilroy Police Department at 846-0300 or the We Tip line at (800) 782-7463.
