A Gilroy truckdriver will be eligible to serve time in a work program after being sentenced to jail for a crash on Highway 101 that killed a mother of three.

A San Mateo County judge Thursday sentenced Carlos Antonio Velasquez to 45 days in jail for a crash that killed Indira Gagloeva in 2007.

By serving in the work program the 51-year-old Velasquez will be able to remain employed. He’ll also have to provide 200 days of community service, as well as serve two years’ probation.

The 37-year-old Gagloeva was killed after the big-rig truck Valasquez was driving flipped over, sending concrete chunks flying into oncoming traffic.

A large piece hit Gagloeva in the head. She later died at Stanford University Hospital.

Her 12-year-old daughter was in the passenger seat, but escaped with minor injuries.
