The Santa Clara County School Boards Association has announced the 2012 winners of its prestigious Glenn W. Hoffman Awards, a 28-year tradition that celebrates exemplary school programs that significantly affect student success in the region.
The Gilroy Unified School District is among five “Exemplary Program Winners.” GUSD is being recognized for its Elementary Engagement and Acheivement Initiative. The three other winners come from districts in Milpitas, Mountain View, Los Altos and Yerba Buena.
About the Glenn W. Hoffman Awards
The awards honor Glenn W. Hoffmann, who served as the Santa Clara County Superintendent of schools from 1967 to 1984. He believed that leadership was a key factor in educational reform.
A committee of school administrators and board members scored entries from thirteen school programs in Santa Clara County. Awards are given to only those programs which received the highest scores.
Representatives of the winning programs will be honored at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 25 during an awards dinner and ceremony in Santa Clara.
