Go mustangs!

The Mustangs are two wins away from wrapping up a league
title.
Alex Maldonado and Cynthia Sanchez produced a pair of goals each as the Gilroy High girls soccer team showed little sign of letdown following its crucial victory against San Benito earlier in the week, topping host Everett Alvarez 5-1 on Thursday – its seventh consecutive Tri-County Athletic League triumph.

With just two games left on the league schedule, the Mustangs (12-2-4, 9-0-1 TCAL) appear prime to lockdown their fifth straight TCAL title. All that separates GHS from that accomplishment is a home date with North Salinas, which will double as Senior Night, on Tuesday and a road contest against third-place Salinas.

Taylor Slattery scored her 18th goal of the season for the Mustangs’ fifth tally. Savannah Silacci, Indra Garcia, Sanchez and Slattery all were credited with assists.

Tuesday game versus the Vikings is listed as a 6 p.m. start.
