The Mustangs host Salinas (10-1-2, 3-1-1 TCAL) at 5:15 p.m. on
Thursday.
The Gilroy High girls soccer team kept the pedal to the metal on Tuesday, defeating North Salinas 4-1 in a Tri-County Athletic League matchup in Salinas.

Tied 1-1 in the early going, the Mustangs tacked on a pair of goals nearing the end of the first half to mount a 3-1 lead into the break.

Cynthia Sanchez, who has tallied in four of the Mustangs’ (7-2-4, 4-0-1 TCAL) five league contests, scored twice Tuesday, giving the sophomore eight goals on the year. Taylor Slattery and Indra Garcia also found the back of the net. Slattery also had three assists and Erin Slattery had the other.

Sanchez put the Mustangs on the board with her first of two five minutes into the opening half. Taylor Slattery and Sanchez made it 3-1 and Garcia scored 15 minutes into the second half.

The Mustangs host Salinas (10-1-2, 3-1-1 TCAL) at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday.

The Cowboys, who are led up top by Lexie Ragsac’s 14 goals, defeated Alisal 1-0 in their last outing Friday.
