The Gilroy Police Department are investigating the cause of death for a middle-aged Gilroy man who they found lying near the entrance to the Launderland parking lot on Kern Avenue on March 15 at 4:51 a.m.
Robert Strickland, 43, had a severe head injury, according to a press release from the GPD.
“It appeared the Strickland may have inadvertently fallen and struck his head on the ground,” the press release read. He was transported via air ambulance to a Bay Area trauma hospital and on March 21, the GDP was notified by a Santa Clara County medical examiner that Strickland had died.
The Gilroy Police Department and Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office are conducting an investigation into Strickland’s death. Police are waiting for Strickland’s toxicology results to find out if drugs or alcohol were involved.
GPD Sgt. Chad Gallacinao said that although police do not suspect foul play, but given the time in the morning, they are conducting a thorough investigation and appreciate any tips the public can offer.
Anyone with information on Strickland’s whereabouts prior his death or any other information about Strickland are encouraged to call Detective Michael Bolton at 846-0350, or the anonymous tip line at 800-782-7463.
Strickland is a 6-foot-tall white male with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black pea coat, blue jeans and white tennis shoes.
