Handmade Healthcare clinched the first-half title in the Men’s E
League basketball program Thursday.
GILROY – Handmade Healthcare clinched the first-half title in the Men’s E League basketball program Thursday with a 41-32 decision over the Titans at South Valley.
Marco Lopez poured in 16 points, including three three-point field goals, as Handmade moved to 5-0 with one game to play in the first half. Four teams trail in second place with 3-2 records.
Handmade built a 16-12 lead at the intermission. The Titans used consecutive field goals from Arnold Tellez to move within two points, 18-16, with 17:30 left in the game. Mike McAvoy and Britt Brigelow converted 3-point buckets for a 24-18 Handmade advantage.
Tellez finished with 18 points, Ron Reed nine for the Titans.
Daniel DeLeon came off the bench to score 14 points in the second half as the Playaz outlasted Goldsmith Seeds 41-23. Joel Goldsmith opened the scoring with a 3-pointer as the Seeds built a 20-12 lead by halftime. Louie Setterberg tallied seven of his 12 Playaz points in the second half. Jim Singleton and Goldsmith each scored nine points for the Seeds.
Net Magic trimmed Stuft Pizza 46-42 behind 19 points from Javier Armenta. Tony Maquinalez launched three successful 3-point shots in the first half and finished with 11 Magic points. Charles Nguyen struck for 12 points for Stuft Pizza.
Adolfo Tellez scored 18 points to pace Pizza N Stuff-Toto Stingers past Rocha’s Drywall 72-61. Alexis Rivas scored 16 points and both Andres Espinoza and Teo Ponce scored 10 for the winners. Bryce Hall scored 27 points and Jose Maciel provided 16 for Rocha’s Drywall.
Above The Rim locked up the first-half Women’s League crown with a 34-25 win over Krazy Koyote-Dutchman’s Pizza Wednesday.
Jeanna Lyon scored 13 points as Rim moved to 5-0. Lilia Flores scored 13 points for Krazy-Dutchman.
Lena Tabron scored nine points to ignite Togo’s past Williams Dental Lab 25-23. Maxine Chavez scored eight points for the Lab.
Gabe Gonzales and Josh Carter each scored 22 points to help Fritter-Schulz Physical Therapy to a 66-54 decision over Dutchman’s-Krazy Koyote. Adam Cheadle added 10 points for the Therapists. Mark Cisneros paced the losers with 23 points, Jon-Michael Becerra 14 and Edward Lujan 13.
Morgan Hill Garage edged past Headstart Nursery 54-50 behind 11 points from Sig Reynisson, Jason Jones and Jacob Garcia. Bob Lemmon exploded for 22 points, Don Hall 13 for Headstart.
