GILROY – Handmade Healthcare escaped with a 9-8 victory over Let’s Do This as the Women’s B League played its second doubleheader of the softball season Wednesday at Christmas Hill Park.
Sandy Saenz doubled and scored on a Mary Ellen Valdivia single in the bottom of the seventh inning as Handmade climbed to 2-0 atop the four-team circuit.
Christina Casillas, Jessica Loza and Shelly DeJesus each clubbed three hits for Handmade Healthcare. Cindy Casillas and Jessica DeLaTorre each lined a two-run single as Let’s Do This scored seven runs in the fourth inning. Anita Garza doubled and scored on a Cynthia Garza sinngle in the top of the seventh for an 8-8 tie.
Williams Dental Lab opened the twinbill with a 15-14 edging of Don’s Vending.
Rose Martinez hit a run-scoring single with two out in the bottom of the seventh to give Williams the nod. Cherie Somavia went 4-for-4, Gail Corzo hit a triple and two singles, Lisa Weiby a double and two singles for the Lab. Liz Adams came up with four singles and Jolene CArrasco went 3-for-5 and scored four Don’s Vending runs.
Craig Avila Bail Bonds improved to 2-0 atop the Men’s B League Tuesday with a 20-11 decision over Salas Trucking at Christmas Hill.
Anthony Hernandez and Ruben Ramirez each tagged four hits for Craig Avila Bail Bonds. Leroy Dozal hit a single, double and triple, Richard Rodriquez three singles and a sacrifice fly for the winners. David Chacon (4-for-4) and Jim Gruber socked Salas Trucking home runs.
Team Talamo, the defending B champion, is 1-1 after a 15-7 victory over Westwood Barbers. Miguel Riverra went 4-for-4 and Abel Jacquez provided three singles for Team Talamo. Alex Rodriguez mustered a single and double, scoring twice for Westwood Barbers.
Dutchman’s Pizza is 2-0 in Women’s C League play after Wednesday’s 13-6 nod over Kay’s Kids at Gavilan Sports Park.
Kristen Rennard and Christina Salvin each went 3-for-3 and scored three Dutchman’s runs. Brenda Maquinalez and Tanja Reyes each drove in two Kay’s Kids runs.
The M&M’s are 2-0 by defeating the Energizers 17-3. Sally Wrye went 4-for-5 and scored four M&M runs. Jennifer Post added four singles. Mary Solari and Maureen Duggan each delivered two singles for the Energizers.
Kathy Morales went 4-for-4 to help Chaos past Goldsmith Seeds 11-7. Rene Rodgers scored three Chaos runs. Antoinette Bowe hit a three-run homer in a 3-for-4 showing for Goldsmith Seeds.
Lisa Low went 4-for-4 and Barb Lemberger went 3-for-3 as 1-1 Marks Tractor Service topped the Hpnotiqs 18-0. Liz Talavera and Jesse DiMarco each went 2-for-2 for the Hpnotiqs.
