The Heartbeats play at a previous Harvest Festival.

If you have never been to Guglielmo’s annual Harvest Festival, here is your chance to have a barrel of fun—Italian style. This is the 23rd year the Guglielmo family has hosted this wildly popular, adults-over-21-only festival, which will take place from 2 to 9:30 p.m. Aug. 16. Dinner will be served between 5 and 6 p.m.
The fun starts out with games such as the “salami toss” and “botched-up bocce ball,” where players win redeemable “Guglielmo Bucks.”
There are plenty of tables and chairs in the shade and a big dance floor for live music and dancing to The Heartbeats, a rock and roll tribute band, playing The Beatles, Elvis and other classic rock favorites.
The three Guglielmo brothers, George, Gene and Gary, will do all the cooking. George is in charge of the pesto pasta, Gene will barbecue the Santa Maria style tri-tip and garlic bread and Gary is in charge of the green salad.
George’s son-in-law, Christopher Maggetti, the concept chef at Disneyland Resorts, along with Jean Marc Viallet, executive pastry chef, and Christine Weissman, executive chef, will volunteer at the festival. Each year they create a unique and amazing dessert, especially for this event. A staff of dedicated volunteers will prepare appetizers of Italian meats and cheeses.
There will be a raffle for gift baskets and a grape-stomping contest to get you cheering for your favorite purple feet.
Parties of 10 people can reserve their own table—otherwise, seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Tickets are $60 per person, or $50 for Guglielmo Wine Club members. The price includes dinner, three glasses of wine and four game tickets. Additional glasses of wine may be purchased for $5 each.
Even though this event draws a large crowd of about 300 people and always sells out, there is lots of opportunity to meet and talk with the winemakers and family members. Call ahead to make reservations or purchase tickets at the Tasting Room at Guglielmo Winery, 1480 E. Main Ave., Morgan Hill or call (408) 779-2145. As usual, no outside food or alcohol is permitted.
