Gilroy – In Thursday’s meet with Los Altos, four Gilroy High gymnasts had top-five finishes in individual events.

Adrienne Eteinne took second in the vault (7.8) and fourth in both uneven parallel bars (6.7) and balance beam (7.1), Erica Law placed third in floor exercise (8.2) and fifth in beam (6.1) and Stephanie Orth took third in bars (7.0).

“At this point in the season, the girls are specializing on one or two events and as they progress they’ll train for more events,” said head coach Nicki Anagnoston.

“We expect to get more skills and raise the difficulty level, so by May, which is our goal, we’re hoping to qualify individuals for CCS in specific events.”

Anagnoston was happy with Law’s 8.2 on the floor, which is just .4 away from the CCS qualifying score of 8.6.

“I’m so proud of what they’re achieving, what they do in such little time,” the coach said. “This was only our second meet and so far, so good. Their performance (Thursday) was definitely a good indication that we are progressing.”

In the JV competition, Gilroy swept the top four all-around spots en route to a 162.65-144.35 team win over Los Altos.

Freshman Veronica Kelly took first in the all-around with a 34.9. Sophomores Amber Minderler (30.8, 2nd place), Carrie McGeehon (29.15, 3rd place) and freshman Shannon Hubbard (26.55, 4th place) rounded out the top four.

Sophomore Jamie Marquez also took fourth in beam with a 7.2.
